2016 28 Jan Highlights from the SoCal Regional Leadership Academy
On January 22-23, 2016, APAICS hosted a Regional Leadership Academy for the Southern California region at Sunrider International (Torrance, CA) and JACCC (Los Angeles, CA). On Day 1, participants learned what it takes to run for office and how to prepare from keynote speakers Congressman Ted Lieu, Los Angeles City Council Member David Ryu, and panels with former and local elected officials. Training sessions included campaign planning, fundraising and messaging. Day 2 consisted of policy round table discussions with community leaders and experts on local issues, immigration and education.
Congresswoman Judy Chu and Congressman Mark Takano provided welcome remarks at the APAICS Community Reception on Friday evening sponsored by Toyota at the Toyota Auto Museum.
