Actor Parvesh Cheena and Actress Sonal Shah to Emcee the APAICS 22nd Annual Awards Gala Dinner

Washington, D.C. – Actor Parvesh Cheena and Actress Sonal Shah* will be the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies for the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies’ 22nd Annual Awards Gala Dinner on May 4, 2016 in Washington, D.C.

Parvesh Cheena is a native of Naperville, Illinois, and a musical theater graduate from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in Downtown Chicago. He is best known for playing Gupta on NBC’s sitcom Outsourced. He is also the voice of the Transformer Blades on Discovery Family Channel’s Transformers: Rescue Bots, airing Saturday Mornings. Cheena currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where he regularly performs long form improvisation with his South Asian team, Browntown, among other teams at IO/WEST and Second City LA. Parvesh is also a third term Los Angeles Local Board Member of SAG/AFTRA and an associate board member of the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. Find him on Twitter @parvesh and Instagram @parvey.

Sonal Shah has acted in plays including The Goodman and in a range of TV series including Transparent, New Girl, Better Things, Powerpuff Girls, and the final season of Scrubs. Shah has also appeared on Comedy Central. She earned her BA in Theatre from Loyola University, graduated from The Second City Conservatory, and studied with the Moscow Art Theatre School at Harvard, The Groundlings, and Improv Olympic.
