APAICS Office Internship

Fall 2026 Applications Now Open!

Overview

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) seeks students and young professionals to intern. Current students and recent graduates of all levels and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

 

All APAICS interns will spend the majority of their time working on content-based projects that will support our national, regional, and local programs and initiatives. For the Fall 2026 term, we seek two interns one of each of the following departments: Communications and Office of the President.

Departments

Communications

  • Examples of duties include: preparing briefings, drafting newsletters, creating digital/social media content, and developing digital marketing strategies.

Office of the President

  • Examples of duties include: preparing briefing memos, compiling data on AA & NH/PI candidates and elected officials, identifying community leaders and local issues of importance, and assistance with APAICS events.

Requirements

  • Office of the President interns MUST be in the Washington metropolitan area for the entire program duration. Communications intern may be remote, but in-person is preferred.

  • Applicants must currently be undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited educational institution at the time of application.  ​

  • All interns will be expected to support APAICS events and may be asked to support other APAICS departments outside their assignments. 

  • All interns will attend in-person and virtual professional development and networking events featuring elected officials, partners, and community leaders.

Experience

No previous experience is necessary, but the following qualifications would definitely be an asset:

  • Knowledge and Interests

    • Understanding of issues affecting Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities

    • Passion for politics, government, and public policy

    • Interest in learning about the inner workings of nonprofit organizations

  • Flexibility

    • Ability to jump between projects from day to day

    • Willingness to assist wherever needed based on organization needs

  • Software experience

    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

    • Google Docs, Sheets

    • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva

    • Databases

  • Communications

    • Strong writing ability for multiple audiences

    • Keen proofreading and editing skills

    • Attention to detail

Time Commitment

Exact dates flexible/subject to change.

  • Fall 2026 Program Dates: September 8 - November 20, 2026

  • Work 10-20 hours per week

  • Some hours may be worked outside of regular work hours

Compensation

The internship is available for college credit and interns will receive a stipend.
