Jane Zhang

Summer 2017 Congressional Intern

Congressional Office

House Committee on Science, Space and Technology

Jane arrives in DC from Yale University, majoring in both History and Political science, with a certificate in Energy Studies. Jane’s AAPI identity is characterized by an ongoing search for self-understanding in the understanding of her shifting communities. Having moved frequently as a child, Jane observed and experienced power dynamics in the U.S., China, and other countries that sparked her desire to engage and engage AAPIs in the evolving multicultural political landscape that is America. For Jane, the APAICS summer internship program was a rare opportunity to not only more deeply understand her personal interests in international and environmental politics, but also learn about potential ways she can contribute to the political communities of AAPIs, APAICS alumni, African American and Latinx Caucus members, etc. She is excited to study the politicization of science firsthand and find ways to involve AAPIs in addressing environmental issues this summer. In her free time, she enjoys learning about different cultures, reading murder mysteries, and acquiring new skills, like fruit carving or coding.

Meet the rest of the summer 2017 interns!
