Lucky Sasiphong

Summer 2017 Congressional Intern

Congressional Office

Senator Tammy Duckworth

Lucky Sasiphong is a native of Queens, New York and a first generation student at American University double majoring in political science and women, gender, and sexuality studies. She is also pursuing a certificate degree in women, policy, and political leadership through the Women and Politics Institute at American University. As a young Asian American woman who aspires to pursue a career in the public sector, Lucky has interned at various non-profit organizations including Running Start, She Should Run, and APAICS. Her passion for motivating young AAPI women to get involved in politics stems from the lack of female and AAPI representation in American government. Over the next few weeks, Lucky hopes to bring her experience from the nonprofit sector into her internship on the Hill as well as attend briefings that are focused around issues affecting marginalized communities. Lucky is an avid traveler and will be taking trips to Tampa, Seattle, and Vancouver later this summer. She is looking forward to this jam packed and fun filled summer season!
