APAICS Office Internship

Overview
The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies seeks students and young professionals to intern hybrid or remote, depending on their assignment. Current students and recent graduates of all levels and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
All APAICS interns will spend the majority of their time working on content-based projects that will support our national, regional, and local programs and initiatives. For the Spring 2025 term, we seek three interns: a Communications Intern, a Development & External Affairs Intern, and an Administrative Intern.
Departments
Communications (Remote or hybrid)

Examples of duties include: preparing briefings, drafting newsletters, creating digital/social media content, and developing digital marketing strategies.
Development & External Affairs (Remote or hybrid)

Examples of duties include: supporting events, drafting digital outreach, and researching community partners.
Administrative Intern (Hybrid)

Examples of duties include: preparing letters and reports, compiling data on AA & NH/PI candidates and elected officials, identifying community leaders and local issues of importance, and outreach to program participants.
Requirements

Hybrid interns MUST be in the Washington metropolitan area for the entire program duration.

All interns will be expected to support APAICS events and may be asked to support other APAICS departments outside their assignments.

All interns will attend in-person and virtual professional development and networking events featuring elected officials, partners, and community leaders.
Experience
No previous experience is necessary, but the following qualifications would definitely be an asset:

Knowledge and Interests

Understanding of issues affecting Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities

Passion for politics, government, and public policy
-
Interest in learning about the inner workings of nonprofit organizations

Flexibility

Ability to jump between projects from day to day

Willingness to assist wherever needed based on organization needs

Software experience

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Google Docs, Sheets

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva

Strong writing ability for multiple audiences

Time Commitment

Orientation: January 20, 2025
-
Spring 2025 Program: January 20 - April 11, 2025, with the opportunity to extend until May 14, 2025

Work for a minimum of 12 weeks during the semester

Work at least 15-20 hours per week
Compensation
Interns not receiving college internship placement credit will be paid Washington, DC, minimum wage (currently $17.50 hourly).
Location
Interns will work hybrid, depending on what the Internship Supervisor and intern agree upon.
