About the Regional Leadership Academy

The APAICS Regional Leadership Academy is a two-day leadership training event for current elected officials, individuals seeking to run for public office, and community stakeholders. The leadership and political training curriculum is tailored to the region utilizing local talent and expertise.

APAICS  partners with local organizations to deliver programming that  consists of interactive political training with topics ranging from developing your campaign plan, communications, digital organizing, power mapping, volunteer recruitment and management, and fundraising.

The local partner organization in New Jersey is the New Jersey Leadership Program (NJLP).

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a non-partisan, non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting Asian Pacific American participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office. About NJLP
The New Jersey Leadership Program (NJLP) is a non-partisan, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting South Asian American youth participation and education at the local level of government in the State of New Jersey. NJLP and its fellowship program focuses on developing leadership, building public policy knowledge, and filling the pipeline for South Asian Americans to work in government or pursue public office at the local, state, and federal levels.

The academy will take place all day on Friday, March 15 & Saturday, March 16.

There will also be a community reception on the evening of Friday, March 15 featuring local AAPI leaders and activists.

The full schedule will be provided with exact times closer to the event date.

Rough timings are as follows:
Training: 8:00 am – 5:30 pm
Community Reception: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Training: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

Cost of Attendance
There is a small fee of $25 to attend the academy. Upon acceptance, program participants will be asked to pay this amount. The fee covers the entire training, breakfast and lunch both days, and the reception on Friday evening.

If you are unable to pay the $25, scholarship options are available.

Eligibility Requirements
All applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or individuals who are legally authorized to work full-time without restriction for any U.S. employer.

Deadline to apply: Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

We will notify applicants no later than March 14, 2019, if they have been selected.
