The historic nomination of Sen. Kamala Harris for vice president is cause for celebration for women, especially women of color. She is building on the achievements of other women and people of color in American politics.
Women have always faced barriers to elected office, and Harris’ background as an Asian American and Black woman, born to immigrants from India and Jamaica, makes her journey even more inspirational.
