Happy Holidays from APAICS
We hope that you’ve had a great Thanksgiving. As we prepare to round out the year, we are thrilled to look back and see all that we’ve accomplished so far. We’ve welcomed our 2019 summer interns and ushered in our 2019-2020 fellows. We can’t wait to see who will join us in 2020 (Applications for the fellowship and internship are due on January 24, 2020 and February 27, 2020 respectively).
It was so wonderful seeing so many old friends and making new connections at our annual Holiday Party. We can’t wait to ring in the new year with everyone and continue to grow the AAPI pipeline.
DC Diaries: A Day in DC as an APAICS Fellow
Fellow: Wardah Khalid
Member: Representative Judy Chu (CA-27)
On working on the Hill:
Capitol Hill is an exciting place, and there is always something fun and interesting happening (if you know where to look)! Some highlights: A briefing by the Crazy Rich Asians cast and crew on protecting the rights of the creative community, celebrating Movie & TV Magic day with props from the Marvel movies and a Spiderman virtual reality experience simulating a tightrope walk between sky scrapers, riding the underground train to the Capitol and Senate side, sitting in on the first ever Congressional hearing on the Muslim travel ban, and joining a lunch lecture on the future of U.S. policy toward Afghanistan (taught by a professor from the graduate school I attended).
